These are the questions I am asked most often regarding Aiwa and LG DVD players
If the answer to your question doesn't appear below, Email it to me!
How can I change the firmware details on my player like yours?
Easy, just visit the Region Hack page.
The display reads "COdE - -" but my player still won't hack?
It has hacked, try entering the region number quicker, and remember to press pause then power off and on!!
I checked the firmware screen after the hack, it still says Region 02, did it work?
Yes, it's worked. The firmware screen will always show the original region the player was destined for.
No, the hack does not disable Macro. Currently Macro disable is not available for the Aiwa 370/LG 335 series players, but keep a close eye on this site!!
The US model of the 370 doesn't have the "NTSC/PAL/AUTO" switch, so although the hack works, you can only play NTSC discs from other regions, however you can learn how to fit the swtich to the player here
What's the difference between an Aiwa XR-DV370 and an XD-DV370?
Nothing, it's a typo on a certain Retailer's website. The number is in actual fact XD-DV370
How can I get to play VCD's on my LG 3350?
See the new VCD/Dolby Digital setup enable page.
How can I change the firmware details on my player's screen like yours?
Again, see the new VCD/Dolby Digital setup enable page.
No, your TV isn't multi standard and can't accept the NTSC signal. Put the "NTSC/PAL/AUTO" switch on the rear of the player to PAL then turn off and on. If this still doesn't cure it, set "Pseudo Pal" in the setup menu to "On"
When I power on my player, the tray comes out about 1/2 an inch then returns, is it a fault?
Mixed reports on this. Some believe it's the player running a "system check", but I have no experience of an Aiwa 370 or an LG 3350 doing this, I would therefore assume it's a fault.(although it does not appear to be detrimental to performance!)
I have an Aiwa DVD hifi (DV525 or DV120), or an Aiwa 170 DVD player, does the hack work on these?
Sadly, I'm afraid they do not. I am currently trying to find out what player's the hifi's and 170's were cloned from so that I can try to find hacks for them. If you have the ability and the equipment, send me an email with the loadup screen and the on screen displays attached.
I have an LG 3000e/3200e/2880p/2330 DVD player, will the hack work for me too?
Again, mixed reports. It depends on the firmware inside the player. Reports are that firmware versions 1.2 and above hack ok, and others are a bit hit-and-miss. Try the hack anyway, the worst that happens is your player stays unaffected. If your display reads "COdE - - " at the correct point during the hack, it worked!
Hardware modification or software download I'm afraid. Try a few of the online retailers or search for the term "Codefree DVD" or "Region Free DVD" on an internet search engine.
OK, I want one!! Where can I get my hands on an Aiwa 370/LG 3350?
The hardest to answer question of them all! Currently all known outlets in the UK have sold out of the 370, however mixed reports say that Aiwa have discontinued the unit, whilst others state they will be back in the UK around now, the LG has also been out of stock, but is now making it's way onto shelves nationwide as you read this (try Troll's LG site for more updates)
However, the new LG range is starting to filter through and can also be seen here
